Job overview
The Sutton Health and Care MSK service (SHC MSK) provides planned outpatient care for residents of Sutton. It has a triage function to support diagnosis and optimise referrals, and a therapies function to rehabilitate those who have sustained an injury or are recovering from surgery, as well as to help people best manage long-term MSK conditions.
It also provides First Contact Practitioners (FCP’s) within both the Carshalton and South Sutton Primary Care Network (PCN) and the Central Sutton PCN, therapies support to Epsom and St Helier Hospitals (ESTH) Fracture Clinic and Advanced Practitioners to the the ESTH Spinal Elective Service.

Thisrole is rotational across Sutton sites within the MSK service, and includes a rotation with the virtual fracture clinic service.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Main Responsibilities and Duties
1. To be a clinical resource with regard to MSK conditions
2. To provide autonomous clinical Musculoskeletal practice in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with MSK conditions
* To be assist with operational management within MSK services
4. To assist with developing practice, innovation and promoting an evidence-informed culture within MSK services
* To assist with communication and collaboration with both patients and relevant stakeholders with regard to the provision and development of MSK services
* To actively partake in a specialist MSK training programme, rotating into different specialist fields on differing sites with the Sutton Community bases
* To assist with the provision of education and training predominately Junior therapists, and Students.
8. To partake in research, audit and evaluation of relevant clinical practice
Clinical
1. To be a specialist MSK clinical resource within community services
2. To assist with the development and sustainment of relevant policies, protocols, pathways and guidelines within the service
3. To continually develop and sustain the required knowledge and skills to practice efficiently and effectively as a Specialist musculoskeletal therapist
4. To have specialist dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory senses for the clinical assessment and physical treatment of MSK patients
5. To have highly specialist rehabilitation and exercise therapy skills
6. To deliver evidence informed specialist musculoskeletal therapy to a caseload of patients.
7. To have overall responsibility for the management of a caseload of MSK patients within the service
8. To reach valid, reliable and comprehensive patient-centered conclusions regarding diagnosis, prognosis and management
9. To communicate effectively with patients including those who do not speak English, have hearing loss, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities etc.
10. To communicate with patients in ways which empower them to make informed choices about their health
11. To communicate effectively and work collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health professional colleagues to ensure delivery of a co-ordinated multidisciplinary service.
12. To maintain comprehensive and accurate assessment and treatment records in line with legal and departmental requirements, and communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines in the form of letters and reports.
13. To comply with relevant professional codes of practice, professional guidelines, trust policies and local policies at all times.
14. To be professionally and legally responsible, and accountable for all aspects of your own work
