Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is a Scottish Government executive agency established in. We are also a public corporation, generating income, expanding our commercial opportunities and delivery of services to support the people of Scotland. We are responsible for managing Scotland’s national forests and land. This includes both direct delivery and facilitation of activities on it, including woodland creation and trading of timber, building roads and civil engineering, wildlife and deer management, expanding renewable energy, biodiversity and conservation. Mechanical Engineering Services (MES) part of Fleet and Buildings function team, works with all areas of the agency to support and deliver Vehicle, Machinery and Equipment for the organisation. It is an exciting time to be joining MES as we support the business with its transformation agenda developing a new target operating model to enable FLS to become a sustainable business. This includes digital transformation and a more strategic approach to the use of management information to help FLS work towards its net zero target. Therefore, not only will you be required to have experience in workshop management, but you will be driven in the use of new technologies and especially in the use of ULEV. Your input to the MES management team will be key in rolling out and developing the MES Business Improvement Plan and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
