This successful manufacturer is looking for a Senior Buyer that will have responsibility for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials required for the organization’s operations. The senior buyer will play a central role in ensuring materials are sourced, managed, and delivered efficiently to meet business requirements. The ideal applicant will possess strong supplier management skills, great commercial awareness, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams.
The Senior Buyer role is easily commutable from Wakefield, Leeds, Barnsley, Huddersfield and Bradford.
Key Responsibilities
* Sourcing, evaluating, and selecting suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and availability.
* Conducting market research to monitor pricing trends, supply risks, and new sourcing opportunities, and maintaining the Schedule of Rates.
* Collaborating with production, engineering, commercial, and project teams to ensure materials are available to meet operational needs.
* Managing supplier relationships, resolving delivery or quality issues and monitoring performance against agreed standards.
* Analyzing inventory levels and demand forecasts to support effective stock control and reduce excess or obsolete materials.
* Ensuring procurement activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements, supporting supplier audits and reviews.
* Maintaining accurate purchasing records, producing monthly performance reports, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
* Relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or similar (CIPS Level 3+ desirable).
* Proven purchasing/materials buying experience within manufacturing or production‑focused environments.
* Solid understanding of procurement and stock management processes, with proficiency in ERP or purchasing systems.
* Strong planning, organization, and attention to detail with clear communication and confident decision‑making.
* Proactive problem‑solving mindset, with an analytical approach and initiative.
Benefits
* Annual salary: £45,000‑£50,000 DOE.
* Permanent full‑time contract, working Monday‑Friday on site.
