Responsibilities
* As our statutory S151 Officer, lead a broad portfolio including finance, audit, procurement, legal, democratic services, and information governance.
* Bring rigour, transparency, and strategic foresight to how we manage a £40m+ budget and support the council’s transformation.
* Provide commercially minded and politically astute leadership to bring clarity to complexity, support cultural change, and ensure governance is fit for the future.
* Work closely with Members, the Chief Executive, and the wider leadership team to drive performance and accountability.
* Lead from the centre with the backing to shape how money, risk, and decision-making are managed across the organisation.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Commercially minded, politically astute leadership with ability to navigate complex governance structures.
* Experience in finance, risk management, audit, and governance to support effective transformation and modernisation.
* Ability to provide strategic oversight and maintain transparency and accountability across a large public-sector budget and services.
