Research Nurse role at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust within the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) Team. Fixed Term | Full Time (Part time hours available). Closing date: 29 October 2025.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research and Innovation Team at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust as a Research Nurse. This role supports participants and families throughout their research journey in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a nurse eager to deepen their understanding of clinical research and make a meaningful impact in paediatric healthcare.
About You
Degree or Diploma Level Education as Registered Nurse (ideally RN Child or RSCN) or Midwife, with post-registration work experience. Awareness, understanding and an appetite to support clinical research delivery across Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Clinical Trials Unit Manager, some of your responsibilities will include:
* Recruitment, education and monitoring of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data.
* Responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials.
* Deliver skilled, independent care to research participants, including patients and healthy volunteers.
* Coordinate patient journeys through complex clinical trials, including CTIMPs, ensuring protocol-driven investigations and tests are organised.

Please note that Sheffield Children’s uplift pay to meet the Real Living Wage, which is £12.60 per hour.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree or Diploma Level Education as Registered Nurse (ideally RN Child or RSCN), Midwife or Allied Health Professional or Graduate with a degree relevant to clinical research
* Teaching, mentoring and Assessors qualification
* Evidence of continued professional development
Experience
* Ability to demonstrate a commitment to professional development
* Minimum of 1 year post qualification/relevant work experience
* Previous Research experience
* Post-registration experience within paediatrics
Knowledge
* Aware of accountability and own limitations
* Health & Safety Safe Practices e.g. Lifting and Handling, Sharps, COSHH
* Principles of Infection Control
* Principles of Safeguarding of Children
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to respect cultural, social and religious diversity within society
* Able to use own initiative
* Effective interpersonal skills
* Ability to work within a team
* Two years experience in a paediatric speciality
* Understanding of the clinical governance agenda
* Health, Safety and Risk awareness
* Awareness of resource management
* Paediatric Life Support training
* Extended role skills e.g. IV practice, venepuncture, cannulation
