Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: West Sussex
Salary: £75,000 - £95,000 + package
A leading UK contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its team on a landmark education scheme in West Sussex, comprising a combination of new build and extensive refurbishment works worth £45m.
This is a key commercial role on a high-profile school project delivered within a live environment, offering the opportunity to take ownership of significant packages and contribute to successful project delivery from pre-construction through to final account.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of the project, including:
Leading the day-to-day commercial activities across multiple work packages
Procurement and subcontractor management
Cost planning, forecasting, and reporting
Managing valuations, variations, and change control
Supporting risk management and value engineering initiatives
Working closely with operational teams and client representatives
Ensuring compliance with contractual and framework requirements
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor on medium to large-scale construction projects
Strong background in education sector projects (schools)
Experience working within the public sector and framework environments
Demonstrated ability to manage projects involving both new build and complex refurbishment
Excellent commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills
Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related field
Membership of or working towards RICS (desirable)
