The Holbrook and Shotley Practice are looking to welcome an experienced and qualified phlebotomist into our busy practice on a part-time basis, for approximately 20 hours per week to support our nursing team. Working under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
* Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples
* Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample
* Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirming with the patient whenever possible
* Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
* Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues
* Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team
Qualifications
* Minimum of a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification or experience
* Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills in venepuncture
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care

* Ability to record accurate clinical notes
