Teacher of Support for Learning – maternity cover Feb 2026 start
Moray Council is looking for a Teacher of Support for Learning to cover a maternity leave starting Feb 2026.
Responsibilities
* Teach assigned classes, groups or individuals.
* Maintain classroom discipline and promote positive behaviour.
* Ensure pupil health and safety.
* Assist with development and implementation of effective identification and assessment procedures for pupils with additional support needs.
* Develop or contribute to teaching and assessment materials for pupils with additional support needs.
* Use assessment results to evaluate and improve teaching, learning and attainment of pupils.
* Set and maintain targets for pupils as appropriate.
* Contribute to the preparation of pupils for internal and external assessments.
* Assist with administration of internal and external assessments.
* Meet with parents/carers to review pupil progress and ongoing additional support needs.
* Contribute to effective running of stage/curriculum area/subject or department.
* Contribute to Improvement Planning, evaluation and quality assurance processes.
* Plan, prepare and record appropriate work for pupils individually and in partnership with class teachers.
* Advise and guide pupils on issues related to their education.
* Report and discuss pupils' progress with parents and statutory bodies relating to care of children.
* Assist in delivery of appropriate therapeutic activities for pupils.
* Identify and evaluate resources appropriate to meet additional support needs of individual pupils.
* Consult and advise on development of individualised educational programmes and legislative obligations in respect of additional support needs.
Requirements
* Regulated role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020: must be a PVG scheme member.
* Candidate should be willing to join PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check before formal offer.
* Applicants provisionally registered are welcome for temporary or part‑time positions.
* Full‑time stand‑ins are acceptable for job‑share or part‑time if appropriate.
