An exciting opportunity is available to work within the Adult Forensic Secure Mental Health setting at Prestwich Hospital, providing a quality service to service users with complex and challenging mental health needs.
You will be responsible for your own caseload and would work closely with the MDT to provide assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation to service users within a specialist mental health setting.
You will work alongside a large, established team of Occupational Therapists and support staff.
The Occupational Therapy service has a wide range of resources that support the patient journey towards discharge.
These include a dedicated skills and education centre, a fully equipped gymnasium and sports hall, and access to the unit Recovery Academy.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute to service developments.
The department is committed to staff wellbeing and progression.
Regular supervision, an appraisal/preceptorship process, and continuing professional development opportunities are established and welcomed.
To manage a defined specialist caseload using evidence‑based, client‑centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
To deliver individual and group interventions drawn from relevant frames of reference.
To develop skills and knowledge through participation in a professional development planning process to meet the competency framework.
To be research‑ and professional‑standards aware and use evidence to support and develop practice.
To work within a secure mental health setting and, by utilising evidence‑based assessments, identify risk within the performance of occupation to contribute to risk formulation.
The postholder will work autonomously with service users for extended periods within community settings as part of their rehabilitation programme.
This aspect of the role involves regular activities that demand sustained physical effort and an appropriate level of physical stamina.
