This could be the start of your new and rewarding career!Main duties of the jobThis is a regional position across the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust (RSH) and Ashford and St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH).
Health and Safety is paramount within they Royal Surrey Foundation Trust and its subsidiary company Healthcare Partners and Ashford and St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.. You will expected to partner with all departments and deliver health and safety advice and guidance to tight deadlines.

We’re proud to be part of the NHS, helping to make healthcare better.Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesPlease see the attached Job Description and Person Specification- The Head of H&S & Fire Management is required to interpret legislation and guidance in order to develop, and then implement or assist others with the implementation of divisional and where appropriate Trust wide policies and procedures.- To achieve and maintain NHSP ISO 14001 accreditation, to demonstrate the knowledge of putting in place the policies, procedures and controls needed for the organisation to active the best possible working conditions.- Identify RSH & ASPH Trust’s status in regards to compliance with current and future health and safety legislation and guidance, to escalate non-conformities via the health and safety committee and to put in place/recommendation corrective actions and forecast resources required.- Ensure that all requirements of legislation are met and liaise with the HSE when required.- Management of fire safety at both Trusts and its community services areas.- Develop long term strategic plans for Health & Safety and Fire management, to ensure that non-compliance notices from external bodies for health and safety, Fire are escalated and acted upon accordingly with urgency in accordance with policyPerson specificationQualificationsEssential criteria- Educated to Degree level- Formal Health and Safety related qualification or 5 years health and safety knowledge and experience, (at least 3 years within an acute hospital)- Senior Management Experience- Have highly developed knowledge of health and safety regulations, management systems and processes- Chartered membership of professional body (IOSH etc)- Membership of professional organisation (Institution of Fire Engineers)- Experience of Fire Safety in a NHS environment- HTM Fire Risk Assessors TrainingDesirable criteria- NEBOSH Diploma with the relevant fields attaining to Fire- NEBOSH Environmental Awareness or equivalent- IOSH Managing Safely- Moving 7 Handling Train the TrainerKnowledgeEssential criteria- Demonstrable experience in quality management and continuous improvement- Continuing Professional development- UK Fire Safety legislation, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005.
Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 05-01 Fire code 2015- Extensive Knowledge and experience in the application of Health and Safety at work etc Act 1974 and associated regulations, approved codes of practices, guidance and practical implications and applications- All statutory and mandatory standards and guidance associated with Fire, Health and Safety and Manual Handling.- Comprehensive Health and Safety legislative and best practice knowledge- Significant experience of health and safety management- Experience in the sponsorship of project works to address non-compliance with H&S legislation.- Track record of producing Health and Safety policies and procedures and reports in health care.- Substantial experience of health and Safety risk assessments- Extensive experience as a health and safety officer/training officer- An in depth understanding of environmental and governance issues facing estate directorates- Experience of using risk management tools and root cause analysis.- Good Awareness of national/local health issues and partnership working- Health and Safety, Fire, risk assessment specialised areasDesirable criteria- Experience of having driven the process for successfully achieving NHSP ISO 14001 accreditation in your organisation- Previous experience in planning for major incidents, risk reduction for health prevention
