Job Summary:
The Support Supervisor helps oversee the day-to-day running of CARE's support services, with a particular focus on the delivery of drop-in support through Open House. Working under the direction of the Housing Services and alongside the Operations Manager, the post holder provides guidance to support workers, helps manage daily client flow, and ensures a calm and welcoming environment for those accessing help.
This role is based at CARE's main office in Grimsby. It combines supervision of colleagues, practical service coordination, and safeguarding responsibilities. The Support Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining high standards of support and making sure people accessing CARE are listened to, treated with dignity, and offered timely, compassionate help.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
Team Support and Supervision
· Supervise and support staff working within CARE's support team, including those based in Open House.
· Hold regular check-ins and formal 1:1 supervision meetings with support workers.
· Guide staff with day-to-day client work, helping them manage priorities and follow processes.
· Support new team members during their induction period and help maintain team communication.
· Raise any staffing or workload concerns with the Housing Services as needed.
Open House Support
· Take a lead role in the day-to-day running of CARE's drop-in service, Open House.
· Help coordinate staff and volunteers during drop-in hours, ensuring smooth service delivery.
· Be a visible, supportive presence in the building to respond to immediate client or staff needs. Maintain a calm, safe, and welcoming environment for all who access support.
Support Delivery
· Support staff with general support tasks such as initial assessments, wellbeing check-ins, signposting, and general advice.
· Ensure client contact is recorded clearly and appropriately on CARE's systems.
· Provide direct support to clients attending open house.
· Work closely with the Housing Services to address any follow-up needs or gaps in support.
Safeguarding and Risk
· Act as a Safeguarding Deputy, supporting the Housing Services in responding to safeguarding concerns.
· Record and escalate safeguarding disclosures appropriately and in line with CARE's policy.
· Encourage safe working practices and support staff in managing boundaries and difficult situations.
· Monitor incidents, behaviours of concern, or building-related risks and flag them as needed.
Monitoring and Documentation
· Review case notes and support records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
· Ensure follow-up actions are noted and carried out.
· Maintain records of staff supervision sessions and contribute to internal reviews.
· Assist the Housing Services in preparing for monitoring visits or audits.
Person Specification
Experience
· Experience working in a support, housing, or social care setting (Essential)
· Experience supervising, mentoring, or guiding staff or volunteers (Essential)
· Experience working with people experiencing hardship, homelessness, or complex needs (Essential)
· Experience supporting safeguarding or responding to concerns (Desirable)
Knowledge and Skills
· Understanding of basic safeguarding processes and safe working practices
· Awareness of local support services and referral options
· Good communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to remain calm and organised during busy or high-pressure situations
· Competent with IT systems including Microsoft Office and case recording tools
· Awareness of trauma-informed ways of working (Desirable)
