Job overview

The post holder will be a key member of the clinical research team across the TVRA. Working closely with the senior delivery team across multiple specialtiesprimarily within Cardiovascularthey will contribute directly to the successful delivery of an expanding research portfolio at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role also involves supporting research within Cardiothoracic services and collaborating with the wider multidisciplinary team to coordinate clinical studies. The post holder will ensure compliance with local, national, and international research regulations, while demonstrating a strong commitment to NHS values and the NHS Constitution.

Main duties of the job

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our clinical research team within the Tees Valley Research Alliance (TVRA). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to a growing portfolio of Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic research studies, working alongside experienced clinicians, research nurses, and multidisciplinary teams.

As a key member of the research delivery team, you will support the coordination and conduct of clinical studies, ensuring all activity is carried out to the highest standards and in line with local, national, and international research regulations. You will play an important role in delivering compassionate, highquality patient care within research settings, developing skills across a range of clinical areas.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Identifying and screening potential research participants

2. Providing clear verbal and written study information

3. Monitoring participant progress and collecting accurate clinical data

4. Performing clinical procedures such as patient assessment, venepuncture, and ECGs

5. Supporting study setup and maintaining highquality documentation

6. Uploading and managing data on electronic research databases

7. Ensuring all research activity complies with ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP)

8. Working collaboratively to overcome barriers to recruitment

9. Contributing positively to a dynamic, diverse, and fastpaced research environment

Qualifications

Essential criteria

10. NVQ3 or equivalent in scientific/healthcare discipline with relevant experience of working within a research environment Or Foundation Degree in a relevant subject

Experience

11. Experience in managing complex information.
12. Proven experience of working to deadlines.
13. Proven experience of dealing with a busy workload.
14. Experience of handling confidential data.

Desirable criteria

15. Experience in Phlebotomy/Blood sample taking and conducting clinical examinations, Vital Signs

Knowledge

Essential criteria

16. Computer literacy skills essential with broad knowledge of software programmes including Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer, Power Point and database management.
17. Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
18. Ability to communicate complex information where on occasion there are 'barriers to understanding
19. Knowledge and understanding of healthcare or research environment.

Desirable criteria

20. Knowledge of ICH Good Clinical Practice regulations
