Strategic Procurement Specialist / Commodity Manager
Contract position
Hybrid working (twice a week in the office)
Location: Leamington Spa
We seek an experienced, highly motivated, and self-driven procurement professional to:
1. Lead sourcing activities and negotiations for aerospace and industrial components to optimize costs, contract coverage, and supply continuity.
2. Negotiate contracts and prices with suppliers to mitigate risks and maximize commercial advantages for current and future programs.
3. Perform detailed cost breakdowns and estimates to achieve the lowest Total Cost of Acquisition (TCA), supporting cost-saving targets.
4. Drive cost reduction and resourcing initiatives aligned with strategic goals, managing impacts on existing supply chains.
5. Develop and implement robust commodity and supplier strategies to ensure capable supply chains that meet business needs.
6. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and early procurement involvement.
Candidate Requirements
1. Ability to operate effectively in a complex, dynamic global environment.
2. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in strategic sourcing or commodity management.
3. Excellent Excel skills.
4. Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
5. Solid commercial, contractual, and project management knowledge.
6. Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards for components.
7. Experience working with a global supplier base within a matrix organization.
8. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree and/or CIPS qualification preferred.
Key Responsibilities
1. Integrate procurement activities into project management processes, overseeing all procurement tasks.
2. Participate in project meetings to influence early-stage decisions and streamline workflows.
3. Establish sourcing and procurement processes, controlling procurement resources within projects.
4. Analyze customer inquiries during bid phases to understand needs and incorporate supplier innovations.
5. Support project cost calculations with accurate material cost data.
6. Review scope of supply and contracts, conduct risk analyses, and recommend negotiations.
7. Assess material costs in sales and operations planning to ensure procurement involvement.
8. Lead or support procurement strategies within projects and ensure their execution.
9. Lead contractual and price negotiations or support specialists responsible for specific material areas.
10. Provide project control insights and compile procurement-related reports.
11. Systematically communicate procurement information related to projects.
