Absence Admin Support – £37,379/year | Full-Time | Sheffield, UK | Northern


Overview

Northern is hiring an Absence Admin Support professional to help manage sickness absence across its workforce. This is a full‑time, Sheffield‑based role with occasional travel depending on business needs. You’ll support managers in handling absence cases fairly and consistently, ensuring smooth operations and strong team performance.

* Location: Sheffield, UK (with travel as required)
* Salary: £37,379 per annum
* Reports to: Operations Manager
* Type: Full‑Time
* Contract: Permanent


Responsibilities

* Support managers with all aspects of sickness absence, including note‑taking at meetings
* Schedule meetings and prepare documentation in line with policy
* Analyse absence trends and provide data insights to improve wellbeing and performance
* Assist with the alternative duties process and maintain accurate records


Candidate Profile


Essential Skills and Experience

* Background in HR administration or absence management
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Familiarity with HR systems such as SAP or Skylight
* Ability to work independently and handle sensitive data with discretion
