Ashton Recruitment are working exclusively with The Bar of Northern Ireland to recruit for a Communications & Digital Marketing Officer. Position: Communications & Digital Marketing Officer Location: Belfast City Centre Duration: Full Time/Permanent Pay Rate : Salary on Request Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday made up of 7.5 hours per day The Bar of Northern Ireland is the professional body for barristers in Northern Ireland, representing those who are qualified to practice as advocates in the courts. Barristers play a crucial role in the justice system, providing specialist legal advice, advocacy, ensuring the rule of law and access to justice are upheld. The Bar of Northern Ireland represents the barrister profession, regulates the profession, and provides continuing professional development as well as a range of professional services to Bar Library members. They are currently seeking a Communications & Digital Marketing Officer to lead on all aspects of the Bar's communications and digital presence. This is a highly hands-on role for someone with strong technical expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud and digital marketing tools, who can confidently manage both internal and external engagement. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering a stronger digital output while employing other non-digital communications skills, playing a central role in the development and delivery of digital output across the organisation. Key responsibilities include communicating with and engaging the Bar Library membership and external audiences via digital content, testing and evaluating output to improve reach and impact and ensuring all content effectively promotes the Bar's work and values. Duties will include (but not limited to): Creating media rich social media content which meet standards on brand, style, tone of voice and publishing standards. Monitoring social media channels for trends, mentions, and engagement, making recommendations for responding promptly and appropriately. Developing a digital content calendar which takes a long term, strategic approach to social media planning. Regularly updating the website with accurate and relevant content, in conjunction with cross departmental colleagues. Collaborating with external web developers to identify and implement improvements, updates and new website features. Ensuring content is optimised for search engines (SEO), accessibility standards and adherence to brand guidelines. Creating engaging and relevant content (both written and visual) for the Bar of Northern Ireland's website, social media channels, electronic campaigns, and other digital platforms. Coordinating with various departments to gather information and develop a communications content planner that reflects the Bar of Northern Ireland's corporate plan objectives. Ensuring that brand guidelines are adhered to across all digital and printed materials and assets to support the work of colleagues across departments and promote the Bar of Northern Ireland in an effective way. Support the Bar of Northern Ireland's press and media work, helping to write press releases and deal with media enquiries when required. Monitor broadcast and print media to identify developing or current news stories of relevance to the Bar of Northern Ireland's. Work with bar committees and other departments to publicise and promote events and initiatives to an internal and external audience. Utilising analytics tools to track and measure the success of campaigns across all our digital channels, devising plans to improve the performance of output as well as driving increased engagement. Generating regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights for continuous improvements. Managing email lists, segment audiences, and analyse email campaign performance. Working with internal colleagues to develop a calendar of activity for email marketing. Planning and execute email-marketing campaigns to promote events, initiatives, and updates to internal and external audiences. Engages meaningfully with the Bar of Northern Ireland's performance management system. Undertakes training courses deemed necessary by the Bar Council to effectively discharge the role Adheres to the information security management systems employed by the executive council. Essential Criteria: A degree (2:1 classification or above) in communications, marketing or digital marketing discipline. (Significant relevant experience may be considered as equivalent) A minimum of 1-year demonstrable experience, gained within the immediate past 3 years in each of the areas below: digital communications, social media management, and content creation in a professional capacity. website publishing and management using a content management system (CMS). producing visual digital content using tools such as Canva or Adobe. using analytics to evaluate and improve website, content and digital marketing performance. working with brand guidelines and external designers to produce on-brand assets. Strong writing and editing skills with an emphasis on digital content. Ability to translate complex information into accessible copy that meets a variety of audiences' needs. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent editorial and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail. Ability to prioritise a wide range of demands and requirements, showing resilience and adaptability. Desirable Criteria Experience gained with a membership or professional services environment. Demonstrable ability to create engaging interactive content such as videos and/or podcasts. Ability to meet accessibility guidelines for content production, e.g. through the implementation of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) In addition to the standard pre-employment checks, this position will also be subject to receipt of a satisfactory Basic AccessNI check.
