Due to continued, accelerated growth, we are seeking a Legal Officer to join our legal team at RAND Europe. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced legal professional to manage and advise on a wide range of contracts and legal matters, working closely with both internal teams and external clients to help make a positive impact on public policy.
The role will be based at our Cambridge office with the opportunity to work from home up to 2-3 days a week.
Responsibilities:
1. Reviewing and negotiating client, supplier, and partner contracts as directed by Legal Manager.
2. Managing a portfolio of contracts including services contracts, purchase orders, sub-contracts, teaming agreements, licenses, and confidentiality agreements.
3. Ensuring contracts are concluded in accordance with company policies, procedures, and approvals.
4. Ensuring all sub-contracts meet client requirements.
5. Providing guidance on contractual issues and identifying contract needs for internal clients.
6. Reviewing, reporting, and advising on legal aspects of projects, including proposals, contracts, and project delivery.
7. Negotiating directly with external clients and suppliers.
8. Collaborating with the Data Protection team to advise on project data protection requirements, including DSAs and DPAs.
9. Working with internal departments such as research, project support, finance, and IT.
10. Managing your own portfolio and proactively communicating progress.
11. Complying with company policies and management systems.
12. Assisting in records maintenance and reporting.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Degree in law (undergraduate or postgraduate).
* Contract negotiation experience.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal clients.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Proactive in identifying and addressing contractual risks.
* Proficient in MS Office, digital signatures, and legal support systems.
* Ability to manage a varied workload.
