Role: Data Scientist Specialist (AI / MLOps)
Location: Bristol (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £60,000 + bonus + benefits
Security Clearance: Eligibility for SC Clearance required
The Role
We’re recruiting a Data Scientist Specialist to join a growing advanced analytics and AI delivery team working on high‑impact, secure programmes.
This role offers the chance to work on real‑world machine learning and GenAI solutions in regulated and security‑conscious environments, supporting organisations tackling complex data and technology challenges. You’ll be hands‑on with modern AI tooling while also playing a key role in technical leadership and delivery.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
* Designing, building, and deploying machine learning models and LLM‑based solutions
* Working with modern GenAI techniques such as RAG, graph‑based systems, and autonomous agents
* Deploying models into cloud and secure compute environments
* Providing technical leadership on projects and supporting the development of junior team members
* Acting as a subject‑matter expert for ML, AI, and MLOps practices
* Improving engineering standards, tooling, and delivery approaches
* Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders
Skills & Experience Required
* Strong commercial experience with Python
* Hands‑on exposure to one or more of the following: Large Language Models (LLMs), Traditional or Graph‑based (RAG), Agentic AI systems, Computer Vision / Vision‑Language Models, Audio or signal processing.
* Experience with Docker, Linux/Unix environments, Git, and testing practices
* Experience working with a major cloud platform (AWS or Azure preferred)
* Understanding of secure data handling and governance principles
* Working with GPU‑accelerated workloads
* Monitoring and observability for ML models and data pipelines
* API design and deployment
* CI/CD pipelines for data or ML platforms
* Strong DevOps and Data Engineering fundamentals
What We’re Looking For
* Someone who can balance hands‑on delivery with technical leadership
* Comfortable explaining technical ideas to non‑technical stakeholders
* Strong problem‑solving and analytical mindset
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible for SC Clearance, which typically requires:
* A minimum of 5 years continuous UK residency
