Can you do it?
To contribute to the building of modern, cloud-based data pipelines which enable the delivery of data to UK Biobank’s research community, forming part of the data engineering capability within the Data and Technology Team.
You will be responsible for:
* Contribute to the Data Engineering team, embracing good software engineering practices to develop AWS data pipelines that meet the needs of the organisation
* Participate in the secure data engineering lifecycle to ensure pipelines are designed, developed, deployed and operated securely
* Undertake hands-on development of data pipelines, including planning, writing, and deploying clean, scalable, testable and secure code under the direction of the Lead Data Engineer
* Contribute to the building of CI pipelines and development of Infrastructure as Code to deploy resources to AWS deployment, test and production environments under the direction of the Lead Data Engineer
Is this 'you'?
To be successful, you will have:
* Knowledge of developing data pipelines with Python and SQL
* Awareness of the technologies and tools involved in developing and running AWS cloud-based data pipelines
* Some experience working in a software development or data engineering capacity
* Willingness to learn and introduce new languages, concepts, and approaches
This role would suit someone early in their career who is keen to build experience in data engineering within a supportive and collaborative team.
Working hours are 35-hours per week, Monday to Friday with some flexibility, 3 days onsite with hybrid working available. Located in Greater Manchester (initially based in Stockport with a move to Manchester Science Park mid to late 2026).
