Clinical/Counselling Psychologist – B&D CAMHS
We are seeking an experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our dynamic CAMHS team in Barking and Dagenham. The role focuses on delivering high quality interventions within a new i-THRIVE informed model of service. The successful candidate will be a postgraduate-qualified psychologist fully registered with the HCPC.
Job Summary
Provide specialist assessments and evidence-based interventions for children and young people with complex psychological needs. Deliver individual and group therapy, facilitate training, supervision and consulting to professionals within the multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
* Run comprehensive psychological assessments for referrals of significant and complex nature.
* Deliver individual and group therapy clinics using evidence-based interventions.
* Develop and deliver training, supervision and consultation to other professionals.
* Supervise assistant psychologists and trainees where appropriate.
* Contribute to multi-disciplinary assessment, treatment and audit.
* Monitor outcomes using normed measures and report findings.
* Adhere to Trust policies, regulatory standards and ethical guidelines.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Doctorate (or equivalent) in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, accredited by BPS.
* HCPC Registration.
* Training in clinically relevant modalities (e.g., DBT, systemic therapy).
Experience
* Experience working with adolescents and families.
* Experience with standardised assessments and outcome measures.
* Clinical experience in mental health settings.
* Experience providing supervision, teaching, training and consultation.
* Experience working with social services, families and group settings.
Knowledge
* Complex psychological assessment and treatment methods.
* NHS priorities, clinical governance and risk assessment.
* Research methodology at Masters or Doctoral level.
Skills
* Excellent communication and relationship skills.
* Consultation and multi-disciplinary teamwork.
* Policy implementation and service development contribution.
* Independent and autonomous professional practice.
Employment Details
* Band: 7
* Salary: £47,810‑£54,710 plus HCAS.
* Contract: Permanent, Full‑time.
* Location: 79 Axe Street, Barking (Child & Adolescent Family Centre).
* High Cost Area Supplement: 15% of basic salary.
* Probationary period applies.
