About the Role
The Group Risk Consulting team works with colleagues and other internal teams who are committed to providing a first-class service to our clients. The team is responsible for advising, arranging, implementing and the ongoing management of Group Life Assurance, Group Income Protection and Group Critical Illness arrangements for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Client work:
o Manage and grow an existing portfolio of group risk clients
o Advise, source, arrange and implement group risk arrangements for the client portfolio
o Undertake day to day administrative support for the group risk client portfolio
o Provide support to colleagues within both the pensions teams and group risk consulting team
o Prepare for, attend and follow up client meetings
* Business Growth:
o Work with clients to ensure they understand the full range of services available from XPS
o Generate and share ideas for new business development
o Support and actively participate in growth and business development activities
o Manage, participate in, or assist with ad-hoc projects as necessary
* People and Work Management:
o Managing and prioritising personal workflow
o Ensuring accurate time recording for both chargeable, non-chargeable activities and meeting required relevant targets
o Adhere to company and regulatory reporting requirements
o Work and liaise with internal departments and external advisors
o Develop relationships with the relevant group risk and healthcare insurance companies
* Development:
o Undertake relevant CPD activities and maintain records
o Develop knowledge and understanding of group risk, healthcare, pensions, ancillary benefits and the supporting regulatory framework
o Attend and participate in internal technical training sessions and other non-client activities such as delivering technical training courses.
o Participate in work related to other legislative requirements and group risk consultancy.
o Due to the changing nature of the business, the job holder may from time to time be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within their capabilities.
Essential - Your Profile
* Ideally, we are looking for someone with more than five years’ experience already in a group risk and healthcare role, who has direct experience in advising and administering group risk and healthcare arrangements for a portfolio of clients.
* Strong IT skills competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
* An ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as the Group Risk Consulting team works closely with our actuarial, investment, administration, and support teams.
* Demonstrates positive personal impact qualities such as leadership, influencing and motivating skills.
* An aptitude for working with people both internal and external of the organisation.
* Excellent interpersonal abilities, able to forge strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
* A client focused approach, able to develop trusting and credible partnerships with clients both face to face and via the telephone.
* Sound commercial awareness.
* A high degree of professional integrity.
* Confident communicator, able to communicate effectively, professionally, and concisely in writing, face to face and over the telephone.

* Able to delegate work priorities to less experienced staff and manage workflows to meet client and legal expectations.
* Capable of anticipating, resolving and owning problems; identifying solutions to management as and when required.

* Meticulous attention to detail is required to perform many elements of the role.
* A committed approach to continuous professional development is required, as the balance of study/work and life requires a high degree of self-motivation.
Qualifications
* Ideally, the individual has completed the GR1 - Group Risk, and IF7 - Healthcare Insurance Products qualifications, with knowledge of Defined Contribution pension, Defined Benefit pension, Group Risk and Healthcare arrangements – although individuals with relevant experience may be considered.
* The individual may be part way through or have attained Pensions Management Institute, Chartered Insurance Institute, or equivalent qualifications; however, consideration will be given to others.
