Electoral Services Officer – Full time, permanent
We have an exciting opportunity for an Electoral Services Officer to join our Electoral Services team, working at the heart of democracy to support the delivery of electoral functions in Solihull.
As Electoral Services Officer, you will be instrumental in supporting the delivery of elections and maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. The Electoral Services team is a fast-paced environment ensuring that people are registered to vote, and you will be handling enquiries by telephone, face to face and by email. You will support the team by resolving a wide range of enquiries ensuring a seamless experience for customers.
Previous elections experience is not essential as full training will be given. The successful candidate will have the following:
Responsibilities
* Handle enquiries by telephone, face to face and by email to support delivery of electoral services
* Support the registration of electors and ensure accuracy of data within systems
* Assist in the delivery of elections and related processes in a fast-paced environment
* Maintain the integrity of the electoral process and provide a high standard of customer service
* Carry out routine clerical and administrative tasks and follow prescribed procedures
* Be able to perform manual handling tasks during election periods, lifting up to 10kg
* Collaborate effectively as part of a team and help meet deadlines
Qualifications / Skills
* Good verbal and written communication skills and good numeracy and data analysis skills
* Computer literate with the ability to input and extract data accurately from systems
* Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
* Empathetic approach to challenging interactions and commitment to good customer service
* Methodical and organised with an ability to work to prescribed procedures
Working Arrangements
This role can be worked on a hybrid basis, with a combination of home and office working. During busy election periods, you may be required to work outside of normal hours including evenings and weekends.
