About Ember We're building the future of public transport — convenient, connected, affordable and zero-emission. Our goal is to make it easier to get from A to B with Ember than it is with your own car. We’ve already demonstrated that it's possible to use electric buses more intensively than anyone else in the world. This leads to a massive emissions reduction and is only possible because we control the full-stack and integrate it tightly together. That includes the tech platform, the charging infrastructure and the vehicles themselves. This also means we’re providing a much better passenger experience with innovative features like demand-responsive stops. We’ve come a long way and there’s much more to come, with the arrival of new vehicles, launch of new routes and hubs to continue to grow our network, it’s a very exciting time for Ember. The challenge is to scale 100x whilst staying lean, increasing efficiency and delivering an even better product experience. We’ve already successfully raised equity from some of Europe’s leading climate VCs and secured a large debt facility from our ethical banking partner, so we’re looking to build a team that can help us take things to the next level. The role This role is all about learning through doing, joining an existing team that takes care of day to day Operations. In the first instance, we're looking for generalist Interns who are keen to get to grips with all aspects of the Operational side of the business. Sometimes that will mean troubleshooting, but after every fire you'll take a step back and think about how to help the team design and implement a process that could have dealt with the issue proactively. What you will do We're still very much a scale-up, so your role will be broad. At a minimum it will include: Day to day involvement in vehicle, driver and route management Looking after our customers across multiple channels Helping to manage vehicle and charger maintenance Assisting with the planning of future routes and expansion You'll be engaging with a committed Operations team to ensure we have 24/7 coverage. Part of this may mean pitching in and helping with weekend or evening cover in case of incidents, whilst also working to ensure we keep these unanticipated events to a minimum. Please note - this is an on-site role, and interested parties should only apply if they are able to work from our office in central Edinburgh. Start dates and timings We're looking to engage the right applicants for an initial period of three months, starting in June/July 2025. The long term We're growing very rapidly, and our hope is very much that our internship programme could lead to permanent roles for the right candidates. Diversity and equality At Ember, we support diversity across our team and customers. We work to ensure every employee feels respected and able to give their best, whether temporary, part-time or full-time. We’re happy to offer flexible working patterns where they make sense, are compassionate when it comes to time off and offer enhanced maternity and paternity leave. Read more about our approach in our Equal Opportunities Policy. What’s on offer This is a paid graduate internship, and conditions will satisfy the requirements of the National Living Wage. How do I apply? Apply using the form, providing a CV and a cover letter explaining why you're right for this opportunity.
