What is the Opportunity?
As part of the Group Risk Management team (GRM), the Director, Business Continuity Risk Management (BCRM), APAC, UK & EU, will be responsible for the Business Continuity Risk Management Program and achieving best-in-class resiliency practices, specific to the regions.
You will be key in providing advice, oversight, and challenge to business partners to ensure effective adoption of Program requirements across APAC, EU, and UK operations for RBC.
You will work closely with the BCRM leadership team to provide full 2 lines of defense coverage across these regions.
You will also ensure alignment with RBC Enterprise BCRM Policy & Standard for APAC, UK, and EU.
Your role is crucial for establishing strong BCRM practices in compliance with regional regulations.
What will you do?
* Contribute to and execute the vision, strategy, and operating model for business continuity risk management for APAC, UK, and EU.
* Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
* Develop and oversee monitoring, oversight, and challenge programs to accurately assess operational risk profiles.
* Manage compliance with BCM policies and standards, ensuring effective controls are in place.
* Oversee remediation efforts for risk issues.
* Lead thematic reviews and assessments for policy adherence.
* Interface with regulators on BCRM and operational risk examinations.
* Support ORM initiatives and monitor compliance, escalating concerns when necessary.
* Identify operational risk trends and conduct research on emerging risks.
* Collaborate with the Regulatory Compliance team to update BCRM regulatory requirements.
* Advise senior management on risk mitigation strategies.
* Promote a risk-aware culture across the organization.
* Oversee internal control environment effectiveness.
* Support risk appetite setting and external insights integration.
* Engage with external committees and forums on BCRM topics.
* Report on business continuity risks and insights to senior management.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
* Extensive experience in BCRM, incident and crisis management, within financial or regulated industries.
* Strong GRC knowledge through 1st and 2nd lines of defense roles.
* Deep understanding of business continuity governance frameworks.
* Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and presentation skills, capable of interacting with senior management.
* Knowledge of regional regulatory requirements and best practices in Business Continuity.
Nice-to-Have
* Additional facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
* Project management and organizational skills.
* Business Continuity Certifications.
