PA Needed for Fun-Loving Boy – £13.74/hr, 6hrs/Week (Weekday & Weekend)
Support is required to enable this young boy to access age-appropriate leisure activities in the local community. He has a diagnosis of Pica and ASD (autism spectrum disorder). Time may also be used at the family home to read stories together, watch favourite movies, participate in role play and play games. Support with prompts to keep hydrated. A driver is essential (carer can use the mobility car).
Main Duties:
* Support to access age-appropriate activities in and around the local community; interested in swimming, enjoys playing in the park, walks and drives; likes music, singing, dancing, and playing.
* Anticipate the child’s needs as he has limited verbal communication / is nonverbal; provide support with personal care, toileting, social stimulation, and progressive levels of activity.
* Assist the child to build relationships with peers within his wider community.
* The child follows routines for meals and bedtime and does not like change.
Personal specification:
* Full driving licence essential
* Experience in health & social care desirable
* Have at least 12 months experience working with children who have disabilities
* Genuine interest in working with children with complex needs
* Calm, patient and understanding
* Happy, positive, caring nature with an understanding towards children with disabilities
* Ability to take instructions and use own initiative
* Respect confidentiality
* Punctual, honest, reliable with a caring nature; the child cannot be left unsupervised
Rate of Pay: £13.74 per hour
Hours: 6 hours per week over 2 days (one weekday and one weekend day). Days and times to be discussed at interview.
