You will be assigned across GMB News bulletins and so must be able to demonstrate you possess the gravitas and experience to deliver under pressure. Your experience must include a broad range of assignments.
Versality is key. We need someone who can produce first class content on a wide range of stories with the skills and experience to produce the top story one day and the ‘And Finally’ the next.
These roles are based in Manchester and in Bristol but will involve travel around the UK and abroad, often at short notice.
The successful candidates will demonstrate a strong understanding of the area in which they are based and have developed a network of contacts or show evidence of how they would do so if new to the patch.
As a multi-platform newsroom, the successful candidate will be expected to deliver content on TV and on digital platforms. For bulletins you must be able to craft packages to a high standard, including graphic treatments. You will also be a polished live performer, crucially with the ability to offer insightful live analysis reporting in the studio and on location for open ended coverage.
We are constantly striving to build on our reputation for producing original journalism. We are looking for someone with a proven track record of delivering distinctive content including investigations and exclusives on all platforms as well as ideas for future scoops. You will be expected to share a portfolio of stories that you have generated from your own ideas and contacts.
We are looking for a team player who can share examples of collaboration with colleagues in the field and/or in GIR.
This role is primarily focused towards the GMB Programme, but on occasion you may work on ITV News, ITVX and streaming services. This role includes anti-social hours of work and some weekend working.
Key Responsibilities:
* Report on a wide range of stories in the UK and abroad for GMB, delivering first class reports and highly polished lives in the studio and in the field
* Produce well researched and well-crafted news content, lives and analysis for GMB and on occasion ITV News and ITVX
* Pitch original content for all platforms and work independently to drive editorial projects
* Work on on-the-day news whilst developing longer term stories
* Contribute to the ITV News drive to identify and use a wide variety of voices with a commitment to diversity
* Adhere to the Ofcom broadcasting codes and ITN legal and compliance guide
* Follow protocols for health and safety in the field

* A confident broadcast presence, with several years of journalistic experience
* Able to demonstrate a sustained record of delivering exclusive and original journalism – from pitch to broadcast
* Able to demonstrate total versatility in reporting on a broad range of stories
* Be a team player and a good communicator
* Be ambitious and agile in your approach
* Able to demonstrate excellence in live reporting, in studio and on location
* Able to demonstrate specialist knowledge and expertise in an area or genre or on a particular number of subjects
* Able to self-shoot and video edit to a high standard
* Embrace new technology and new ways of working
* Able to demonstrate a deep and lasting commitment to news coverage that reflects all of Britain’s communities
* Able to inspire colleagues and act as a mentor figure for more junior members of staff
* A UK driving license
