About the role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Project Trainer to join our Regional Scotland team, supporting the Netherton Hub project in Peterhead.
The Netherton Hub is a major infrastructure development in the North East of Scotland, requiring the mobilisation of a large workforce. This role will play a key part in managing high‑volume inductions and delivering essential training programmes such as Making Safety Personal, Right to Respect, Plant and Vehicle Marshalling, and a range of Health, Safety, and technical training. By overseeing these critical training activities, the Project Trainer will enable our Operations and HSW teams to focus on their core specialisms.
This significant scheme comprises both HVDC and HVAC works, including converter stations, a switching station, and 400kV and 132kV substations. The project also includes the development of a new depot and extensive civil engineering works, such as earthworks, drainage, landscaping, access roads, and utilities.
This is a site based role in Peterhead. Subsistence will be covered if a candidate is based away from home.
What you'll be doing
The purpose of this role is to ensure every worker, subcontractor, and visitor understands project expectations, safety procedures, operational standards, and key risks before being authorised to work.
Responsibilities include:
* Deliver engaging, site‑specific induction sessions for all personnel arriving on the
project.
- Provide safety briefings and essential mandatory training required for project
personnel.
- Deliver a range of Health & Safety training packages, using both internal materials
and externally accredited content as required.
- Deliver mandatory and role‑specific training, ensuring compliance with legislation
and company standards
- Assist with training coordination, including booking, scheduling, and reporting.
- Ensure all training and induction records remain accurate, compliant, and up to
date.
- Help assess, manage, and deliver project‑specific job‑role training needs.
Support audits, inspections, and training‑related reviews.
- Help develop and continuously improve training processes, systems, and e‑learning materials.
- Work with the wider Training Team to evaluate the effectiveness of training
solutions and adapt or develop new materials when required.
- Ensure you continue to develop your own skills and capabilities through ongoing
professional development.
Who we're looking for
Essential:
* Experience of working in a construction environment
* Experience delivering training, inductions, or safety briefings in a
construction or industrial environment
- Competent user of digital induction systems and training management
platforms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
Desirable:
* A recognised training qualification (e.g. L3 Award in Education and Training)
* A recognised Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely,
NEBOSH Certificate)
