Job Title: Senior Wholesale Banking Supervisor
Division: Supervision, Policy & Competition
Department: Wholesale Banks – Sell Side

1. Salary: National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £52,400 to £68,000 and London from £57,700 to £75,000 (salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

2. This role is graded as: Senior Associate - Regulatory

SPC oversees firms and individuals (supervision), creates and reviews the rules by which they operate (policy) and identifies and remedies ineffective competition in markets (competition). The Sell-Side Directorate oversees wholesale banks, intermediaries, market infrastructure and exchanges, ensuring fair, transparent and resilient wholesale markets that support the effective functioning of the UK’s financial system.

Role responsibilities:

4. Understanding firms’ business strategies and activities, how they adapt in response to the external environment and what implications these changes have for wholesale conduct risks

5. Working collaboratively within a focused supervisory team including playing an active role in relevant workstreams

6. Contribute to developing and implementing strategies to supervise firms

7. Building and developing effective relationships with firms’ senior management, internal stakeholders, and other regulators

8. Providing timely briefings to FCA senior management both verbally and in writing

9. Collaborating inclusively, contributing to an environment where everyone is listened to and respected and engaging with the FCA Diversity and Inclusion agenda

Skills required:

Minimum:

10. Prior experience working in either a wholesale financial service environment such as firms, legal and consultancy or other regulatory and governmental organisations

11. Proven experience of analysing complex business models and products and/or wholesale conduct risks

12. Proven experience of stakeholder management engagement, able to build and maintain impactful relationships with senior management at wholesale banks, other regulators, and staff at all levels within the FCA

14. Strong written and verbal communication skills

15. Evidence of analysing large amounts of complex information, identifying key themes, drawing logical conclusions, and developing and implementing a strategy and plan of action

16. Able to work effectively as part of a team by working inclusively, contributing to an environment where all opinions are listened to and respected

17. Prioritise and adapt to meet changing circumstances and work quickly and effectively on key tasks

18. Work independently, use sound judgement and escalate issues appropriately
