The role
As a Security Assurance Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in safeguarding Babcock’s information systems and services. This is an exciting opportunity to influence national security projects, support digital transformation, and ensure compliance with critical standards. Day-to-day, your work will make a real difference protecting sensitive data and enabling secure operations across defence, aerospace, and engineering.
Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate security assurance activities across multiple business units.
* Interpret and apply standards such as JSP 453, NIST SP 800-171/53, ISO 27001, DefStan 05-138, and Cyber Essentials Plus.
* Prepare and maintain security documentation, including SyOps, Information Security Management Plan(s) (ISMP), and Risk Assessments.
* Represent Babcock in assurance engagements with MOD authorities, customers, and auditors.
* Deliver risk-based assessments for IT change, cloud adoption, and digital transformation initiatives.
Essential experience
* Proven experience in information security assurance or related roles.
* Strong understanding of technical risk assessment methodologies.
* Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
* Experience with UK Government classification and MoD assurance standards.
* Analytical skills to assess complex systems and identify security implications.
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Information Security, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
* Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISMP or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor (preferred).
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) and if necessary Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role. You must also be a British National. Many positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
