Overview
Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) role at Nuclear Restoration Services. The post holder provides a focal point of engineering expertise for a portfolio of assigned mechanical plant systems and assets, delivering a comprehensive engineering service to customers and stakeholders while maintaining long-term safety, performance, reliability, material condition and compliance.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
* Provide engineering expertise in the investigation and rectification of plant and equipment defects.
* Appraise emergent plant or equipment deficiencies to enable rectification.
* Assist the Engineering Section Head to ensure site plant is maintained, safe, efficient and reliable.
* Liaise with System Engineers to ensure plant performance and component defects are considered in asset management/investment strategy.
* Carry out Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and prepare Method Statements/Work Instructions for all defect maintenance.
* Provide technical support for maintenance activities where required.
* Write/manage modifications/safety cases under the plant modification procedure; act as Nominated Responsible Engineer as required.
* Provide technical support to current and future project design and implementation.
* Provide authoritative advice for internal departments to support external stakeholders.
* May undertake delegated responsibility for the Design Authority and act as site intelligent customer; may undertake emergency scheme duties.
* Comply with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments; support continuous improvement of HSEQ on site.
* Produce and/or approve relevant documentation for assigned systems, such as Technical Specifications, Work Instructions, Method Statements, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments.
* Identify Asset Management project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned projects; support project optioneering; develop concept design and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions; manage handover to systems/operations with necessary drawings, instructions and training.
Qualifications And Experience
* Educated to HNC or Engineering Degree, or NQF level 5/6 (essential).
* Membership of a relevant Engineering Institute with Incorporated or Chartered Status (desirable).
* Experience in a Mechanical Engineering role on industrial plant including nuclear and/or conventional plant operation and/or maintenance; understanding of relevant standards (essential).
* Working knowledge of CDM Designers role and Electrical & Mechanical Safety Rules (desirable).
* Knowledge of risk assessment methodology, site license and Quality Management System requirements; project delivery experience (desirable).
