During the school holidays the shifts will change to 9.30am-6pm 3 full days per week. Extra hours will be available to cover for absences of the current team We can be flexible, and the hours can be covered by more than 1 person. Essential Experience: Willingness to engage in crafts and other creative activities. Matthew is very creative and writes comic books and creates magical scenes. Desirable Experience : Experience of working with teenagers with special needs. Experience of and qualifications in caring for children/young people with disabilities. Interviews Week Commencing: Will be held in January 2026 Start Date: ASAP (subject to satisfactory employment checks) Matthew, born in 2012, enjoys spending time with others directing the creation of art and stories and also enjoys outdoor activities, animals, watching television and enjoys using technology. With help, he writes his own comic books. Matthew has Cerebral Palsy and autistic spectrum order diagnosis. He requires personal care support and to manage changes in his routine and although he can communicate clearly benefits from support to express his feelings, planning ahead and on occasions to reflect on his actions and choices. The Support Worker will facilitate Matthew's access to the activities he enjoys, and with training, may also include the application of therapy, including psychological strategies and physiotherapy programmes. The role will include working alongside and under the guidance of Matthew's parents. Some shifts will require lone working but the parents will remain on call. Shifts will be booked directly between the parents and Support Worker and may include after school, school holiday and weekend support. Supporting with writing comic books, being able to listen to what he wants created and put this on paper. Once the role is established you would receive training from the multi-disciplinary team to include Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Psychologist.
