Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our IBD Nurse Lead Service. The overall purpose of this role is to support the care of a group of patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease who are on biologic and other advanced therapies, and manage the administration and monitoring of these medications. The IBD Biologics Clinical Nurse Specialist role will have an overview of the management of IBD and, in time, will take on some non-biologic stable patient review also.

Main duties of the job

The Biologics CNS will:

1. Work as an independent practitioner alongside other members of the multidisciplinary team
2. Accept patient biologic referrals to agreed criteria
3. Coordinate the pre-biologics safety checks
4. Support the Vedolizumab nursing team and OUH Gastroenterology Day Case Unit team in the administration and management of all biologics
5. Coordinate the appointments alongside the Day Case Unit administration team and clinic
6. Be available for at least four clinical sessions a week in the Day Case Unit or Outpatient Clinics.
7. Liaise with the gastroenterology pharmacy team
8. Work across departmental boundaries
9. Contribute to the smooth running of the biologics service
