An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified Radiographer to join the Ultrasound Team in Buckinghamshire Healthcare as a Trainee Sonographer.
To meet this role you must hold a degree in Radiography at 2:1 or above and be at least two years post qualification.
You should have a good knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and prepared to study for a post graduate diploma in medical ultrasound.
It is essential that you have excellent communication skills and be capable of dealing with patients in highly emotional situation.
Training may take up to 3 years and course fees will be funded by the Trust.
Main duties of the job
1. To undertake and successfully complete a Post graduate diploma in medical ultrasound at a suitable University.
2. Dependant on course undertakes to complete the required clinical portfolio and tasks required by this course.
3. Arrange regular meeting with their clinical mentor.
4. Ensure they inform the Ultrasound service Manager of any exam results and project outcomes immediately.
5. Learn to prioritise patients based on clinical history to ensure the correct examination is performed.
6. Learn to independently report a full range of ultrasound examinations.
7. Learn to perform ultrasound examinations in line with local and national guidelines and standards.
8. Learn to communicate effectively with patients.

EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
19. 2 years’ experience in radiography including out of hours work.
20. Supervision and training of junior colleagues.
21. Experience of Quality Assurance or up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety and Risk.
Desirable criteria
22. Experience of ultrasound.
