Are you an Embedded Software Test Engineer looking to work on cutting‑edge electro‑optic sensor systems that enhance maritime defence capabilities? Key Details
* Location: On‑site in Glasgow or Edinburgh
* Security Clearance: Must be SC clearable
* Experience Level: 5+ years’ experience in embedded software testing
Key Responsibilities
* Design and execute software test cases to verify embedded system requirements, ensuring full test coverage.
* Set up and manage test environments for hardware and software integration, supporting complex system validation.
* Plan and conduct software test campaigns, integrating real hardware with simulation and emulation tools.
* Develop and maintain test documentation, including test plans, reports, compliance records, and fault logs.
* Perform manual and automated testing in Linux and Windows environments, ensuring software reliability.
* Investigate and report defects, providing clear reproduction steps and root cause analysis to engineering teams.
Qualifications
Required Skills
* 5+ years’ experience in embedded software test engineering, ideally within defence, aerospace, or other safety‑critical systems
* Strong understanding of black‑box and white‑box testing methodologies
* Proficient in working with real‑time embedded systems and software/hardware version control tools
* Skilled in test case generation, metrics tracking, and compliance verification
* Experience using DOORS for requirements management and test traceability
* Familiarity with test automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
Required Qualifications
* Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC)
* A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or computing field OR Equivalent applied experience from a UK Armed Forces technical background
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of IEC‑61508 or DO‑178C standards for safety‑critical software testing
* Experience with automated test scripting and working within Agile or Waterfall methodologies
* Background in software development, particularly with C, C++, or Python
