Job Summary
We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Quality Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that a wide range of aerospace and defense products meet the highest quality standards. This position involves conducting inspections, recording measurements, helping maintain quality systems, documenting and helping rectify non-conformances within a highly regulated aerospace environment.
Responsibilities
* Perform in-process, first article, and final inspections on aerospace components, subassemblies, and finished products using precision measuring equipment (CMM, micrometres, callipers, height gauges, etc.).
* Verify conformance of parts and assemblies to engineering drawings, specifications, AS9100/ISO standards, and customer requirements.
* Prepare and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
* Identify, document, and report nonconformances (NCRs); support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities.
* Ensure calibration and proper use of measuring tools and test equipment.
* Maintain and update quality records, inspection logs, and documentation in accordance with QMS and regulatory requirements.
* Support internal and external audits (customer, regulatory, or certification bodies).
* Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain to ensure quality standards are met.
* Assist in the implementation of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce defects.
* Ensure compliance with EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) and company policies at all times.
Skills - Essential
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
* Hands-on experience using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, callipers, CMM, height gauges etc.).
* Minimum 2+ years of experience in quality assurance or inspection, ideally within in the aerospace/defense industry.
* Basic understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action methods.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in inspection tasks.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and able to work with quality/ERP software.
* Good written and verbal communication skills for reporting and documentation.
* Ability to manage own workload, multi task and prioritize in accordance with business needs.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team
Skills - Desirable
* Experience working in an AS9100/ISO9001 environment
* Familiarity with FAIRs and AS9102 documentation tools (e.g. Net-Inspect, HighQA)
* Experience using CMM programming software
* Knowledge of 5-Why, Root Cause Analysis, and corrective/preventive action processes.
* Understanding of aerospace customer requirements.
* Experience with ERP and QMS software systems (Epicor, or similar).
