Hays are working in partnership with a highly regarded regional accountancy firm to appoint a Senior Tax Associate into their expanding Private Client team. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional to take ownership of a diverse portfolio, gain exposure to high-quality advisory work, and position themselves for progression towards Manager and beyond within a supportive and technically strong environment. The Role This varied role will combine technical compliance oversight with exposure to complex advisory work across a broad private client base. Tax Compliance Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring all key deadlines and compliance obligations are met Deliver high-quality personal tax returns with minimal review points ("right first time") Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, including those with complex tax affairs Utilise tax software, Excel and technical resources effectively to ensure accuracy and efficiency Tax Advisory Support on advisory assignments including: Inheritance Tax (IHT) and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) planning International tax matters Business exits and succession planning Work closely with senior managers and partners to deliver commercially focused advice Assist in identifying advisory opportunities within your portfolio Contribute to business development and strengthening long-term client relationships Responsibilities & Impact Demonstrate strong judgement, anticipating client needs and identifying risks and planning opportunities early. Take ownership of assignments, contributing to quoting, billing and overall portfolio profitability Ensure high technical standards and robust risk management across your work Play an active role in developing junior team members through effective delegation, coaching and feedback Act as a key point of contact within the team, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing culture. About You CTA qualified (or qualified by experience at an equivalent level) Proven experience managing personal tax compliance and advisory work Strong technical knowledge, particularly across private client tax, with exposure to IHT and CGT Confident in interpreting legislation and delivering clear, commercially focused advice Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted client relationships Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff Why Apply?
