Equans Embedded Generation operates multiple customer sites with large-scale embedded energy capacity across the UK, providing specialist management of onsite generation for industrial processes and the ability to export to the Grid. We combine multiple technologies to meet our customers' specific needs, offering design, build, operate, and maintenance services. Our skills and expertise help industrial businesses achieve their carbon reduction goals.
We are experts in technologies including combined heat and power (CHP), biomass, and energy from waste. By locating generation on customers' sites, we provide industry-leading safety management, reduced energy costs and carbon footprint, and assured energy security for their operational needs.
Key activities
The Plant Performance Engineer will interpret plant design and operational data to monitor performance, identify shortfalls, and suggest improvements. They will guide on asset management across contracts/sites, advising on best practices to enhance asset reliability, availability, and efficiency while minimizing costs.
* Support and expertise to improve plant performance and conduct root cause analysis of performance degradation.
* Collaborate to maximize efficiency from existing assets and scheme operation.
* Analyze energy scheme trends and diagnose issues, making recommendations.
* Implement rectification plans to ensure consistent and efficient energy delivery.
* Contribute to investment proposals for system optimization projects.
* Improve methodologies for tracking asset savings from improvement projects.
* Optimize data collection platforms and data transfer from meters via Automated Meter Reading (AMR).
* Review and support upgrades of CHPs and gas boilers, including safety controls and control philosophy.
* Develop plant performance reporting for the Divisional Leadership Team.
* Administer CHP QA and UK ETS for assets.
* Prepare contractual performance reports for customers.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Motivated professional engineer seeking growth and challenge.
* Minimum 2:2 degree in Mechanical, Process, or similar Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
* Membership or progress towards membership of an engineering institution.
* Experience with energy schemes, heating/cooling systems, CHPs, boilers, utilities, biomass plants.
* Proficiency in data analysis tools like Excel.
* Knowledge of UK energy and carbon policies is advantageous.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Experience engaging with stakeholders and clients.
