We are currently recruiting a Frontline Officer Plus to join the Adult Care and Support Intake Team in Barking and Dagenham. This is a key frontline role acting as the first point of contact for residents requiring support from Adult Social Care, ensuring timely, person-centred responses and early intervention.
The Role
Working within an integrated, multi-disciplinary team, you will undertake initial assessments, pre-screening and signposting to ensure residents receive the right support at the earliest opportunity. You will have a broad understanding of Adult Social Care services and relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the first point of contact for residents accessing Adult Social Care
* Undertake initial assessments, pre-screening and first contact resolution of enquiries
* Provide clear information, advice and signposting to appropriate services
* Embed early intervention, prevention and self-directed support approaches
* Accurately record contacts and actions on multiple IT systems
* Identify and elevate complex or specialist cases appropriately
* Take ownership of customer outcomes and follow up to ensure timely resolution
* Build trusted relationships with residents, colleagues and partner organisations
* Promote preventative and community-based services across the borough
* Work collaboratively across Adult Social Care and wider Council services
* Support service development through sharing knowledge and best practice

* Share knowledge and support the development of colleagues
* Act as a role model for professional, cultural and behavioural standards
* Appropriately challenge poor practice in line with Council values
Governance & Compliance
* Work in line with Equalities and Diversity, Health & Safety and Data Protection policies
* Ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures
Essential Requirements
* Experience working in Adult Social Care, customer-facing or assessment-based roles
* Working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and relevant Adult Social Care legislation
* Strong assessment, decision-making and signposting skills
* Excellent customer service and communication skills
* Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
* Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced frontline environment
* Strong partnership-working approach
