What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Lawyer - Social Care & Education REF: Merton 5280066 Pay rate: £40.16 per hour PAYE Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 4 to 5 months Working Arrangement: Hybrid working. Office attendance once a week In order to apply for this role you will be an experience UK qualified Education Lawyer. The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Lawyer - Social Care & Education to join an Adult Social Care team and Education team who are a busy sub group within the Social Care team. You will work within both Adult and Education team with a focus on Education work which includes Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST) appeals and provide advice to Schools and the Local Education Authorities for all 5 Boroughs served. Key Responsibilities may include: Provide specialist legal advice and support on matters relating to Education Law, particularly Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) issues Advise on SENDIST appeals, including case preparation, evidence gathering, and representation at tribunal hearings Offer legal guidance on the statutory duties of Local Education Authorities (LEAs) across the five boroughs served Support schools and educational institutions with policy interpretation, compliance, and dispute resolution Advise on the interpretation and application of the Education Acts, Children and Families Act 2014, and related regulations What the client is looking for: Qualified solicitor or barrister Experience UK qualified Education Lawyer. Previous experience of Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST) appeals Able to provide advice to Schools and the Local Education Authorities How to Apply Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
