EduTalent Group is proud to collaborate with a Learning Centre in East Sussex that offers a flexible, strength-based, and neuro-affirming curriculum for autistic learners disengaged from traditional education. The centre provides small group, creative, and consent-based learning focused on rebuilding confidence, wellbeing, and enjoyment in learning.
As a SEN Teacher, you will lead project-based education for two groups of up to 8 learners (Years 5–8 and Years 9–11), using a holistic and trauma-informed approach. You will support learners in re-engaging with education, celebrating neurodivergence, and thriving socially and academically.
You will be supported by at least one Learning Support Assistant, maintaining a staffing ratio of 1:4.
Key Responsibilities
* Build authentic, trusting relationships with neurodivergent learners
* Plan and deliver creative and inclusive lessons across subjects including English, Maths, Science, Humanities, and Wellbeing
* Create a consent-based, emotionally safe, and low-demand learning environment
* Support learners to re-engage with education at their own pace
* Embed learners' strengths and interests into each session
* Monitor and assess learner progress in line with EHCP outcomes and personal goals
* Communicate effectively with parents/carers and contribute to learner reports
* Support transitions, admissions, and holistic learner assessments
* Collaborate with a small team of educators and contribute to the development of the centre’s educational approach
Requirements
The Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following:
* QTS or QTLS
* Experience in settings such as Alternative Provisions or PRUs
* Experience mentoring on a 1:1 or small group basis
* Experience teaching the UK Primary Curriculum
* Knowledge of Montessori or project-based learning
* Ability to build authentic, trusting relationships with young people and colleagues
* A strong understanding of neuro-affirming practices and a commitment to inclusive education
* Belief that the environment, not the child, must adapt for neurodivergent learners to thrive
* Flexibility, initiative, and responsiveness to adapt plans and approaches in the moment
* Passion for innovative and creative education practices
* Calm, nurturing presence when supporting children with high anxiety
* Ability to identify learning opportunities in varied, non-traditional contexts
* Excellent planning, organization, and prioritization skills
* Strong problem-solving skills, both independently and as part of a team
Fluent spoken and written English
