* Address: Phoenix House, Ipswich IP1 5NP or Rougham Service Delivery Centre, Rougham IP30 9ND, or Halesworth Service Delivery Centre, Halesworth IP19 8EN - Onsite
* Salary: £28,598 per annum (pro rata for part time)
* Hours: 37 hours per week
* Contract: Permanent

Your Role And Responsibilities

* Reporting directly to the Senior Network Inspector, you will need to engage with the statutory undertakers (e.g. utility companies) and other works promoters (e.g. private contractors) and work towards minimising the disruption to the highway user, improve safety and ensure the integrity of the road.
* To inspect works and activities within the highway in accordance with NRSWA (New Roads and Streetworks Act) and TMA (Traffic Management Act), ensuring compliance with codes of practice including taking appropriate action for non-compliance.
* To work closely with the Network Co-ordinator to provide technical support in the co-ordination of works to ensure minimum inconvenience to the general public.
* You will, in line with Network Assurance’s impartial and independent role, treat Suffolk Highways’, public utilities’ and private contractors’ activities in the same manner.


You will need:

* the authority successfully introduced a ‘Permit Scheme’ on the 1 April 2020 so knowledge and experience of working and/or operating within a ‘Permit Scheme’ would be an advantage.
* relevant level 4/5 qualification in highways (or civil) engineering discipline or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.

Network Assurance is responsible for managing the occupation of County’s Road network and delivering Suffolk County Council’s Network Management Duty in line with the TMA and the NRSWA.
