Job Overview
We are seeking to appoint a part-time Library Assistant to join our Library team.
The department provides a library service to Sixth Form and HE, staff and students, that underpins the curriculum and encourages and supports students to become independent learners. Specialist built accommodation consists of differentiated areas providing students with a university-style library with a choice of studying environments. In the main area are group work desks, individual study carrels, BYOD area, and PCs. A separate silent study area is for private study, and two bookable group work rooms are available. There are 22 PCs and 24 laptops for use in the library.
Resources include books, eBooks, DVDs, newspapers, journals, and online resources accessible both on and off campus. The web OPAC allows access to the library catalogue on and off campus, and students and staff can log in to manage their accounts.
The library is the main provider of library services to HE students, including Holy Cross College undergraduates and students from Edge Hill University. It offers inductions and research skills training at all levels. One-to-one support is provided on request, guiding students through the use of their university's online resources.
The current staffing structure comprises a Head of Library, a Librarian, and three Library Assistants.
