Court of Protection Paralegal
Location: Preston or Burnley (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home)
Salary: Competitive (DOE)
Overview:
An established and well-regarded law firm is seeking a Court of Protection Paralegal to join its growing team in either the Preston or Burnley office. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive environment, assisting on a varied caseload of Court of Protection matters.
The firm is also open to considering candidates with strong GDPR / Data Privacy experience, particularly those with an interest in transitioning into Court of Protection work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assisting fee earners with a range of Court of Protection matters, including property and financial affairs
* Supporting with Deputyship applications and ongoing case management
* Drafting legal documents, correspondence and applications to the Court
* Liaising with clients, families, medical professionals and third parties in a sensitive and professional manner
* Assisting with the management of client finances, including payments, budgeting and reporting
* Preparing and submitting annual reports to the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG)
* Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case management records
* Supporting fee earners with billing and administrative tasks
* Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including GDPR and data protection requirements
Candidate Requirements:
* Previous experience within Court of Protection, Private Client, or a similar legal environment is desirable
* Alternatively, strong GDPR / Data Protection experience with an interest in Court of Protection work will be considered
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and empathy
* Proactive and team-oriented approach
