What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Litigation Solicitor REF: Dorset 121911 Pay rate: £38.24 per hour PAYE Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 1 to 2 months Working Arrangement: Assume office based, TBC The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Litigation Solicitor to join a Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team, providing legal advice and representation in a range of contentious matters on behalf of the Council. Key Responsibilities: Provide clear, accurate, and timely legal advice to Dorset Council services and officers on litigation and dispute resolution matters Prepare and conduct litigation on behalf of the Council, including case management and advocacy where appropriate Draft and review legal documents, statements, and correspondence related to litigation, enforcement, and dispute resolution Advise on risk management, pre-action protocols, and settlement options Represent the Council at court hearings, tribunals, and internal panels as required Liaise with and instruct Counsel or external solicitors where appropriate Monitor and advise on changes in legislation, case law, and legal procedure affecting the Council’s operations Work collaboratively within the Legal Services team and contribute to knowledge sharing, training, and professional development initiatives. What the client is looking for: Qualified Lawyer, Barrister, or Legal Executive. Degree-level education. Post-qualification experience in litigation or dispute resolution is desirable Experience working within a local authority legal department is desirable Knowledge of Local Government Law, Civil Procedure, and Public Law is desirable Familiarity with local government governance and decision-making processes is desirable How to Apply Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
