As a member of the Site Leadership Team, the Head of Engineering is responsible for leading the operational and strategic direction of all engineering activities across the site. Leading a multi-disciplined team of ~30 engineers (mechanical, electrical, NPI, process, automation and maintenance), you will be responsible for driving innovation in manufacturing excellence, ensuring that all products and manufacturing operations meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and compliance. As the Head of Engineering, you will: Drive continuous improvement programmes, adopting lean manufacturing principles to optimise yield, cycle time, uptime, and cost per unit. Lead Root Cause Analysis and corrective action for recurring operational challenges. Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with industry, regulatory and quality standards such as IPC, AS9100, and ISO. Evaluate and implement advanced manufacturing technologies such as Industry 4.0, robotics, and AI-driven quality control. Oversee the selection, installation, optimisation and maintenance of all equipment. Manage the introduction of new products into production, ensuring manufacturability, cost efficiency, quality compliance, and business alignment. Skills and Experience Required: Demonstrable, solid experience in regulated manufacturing environments (aerospace, defence, medical device, pharmaceutical or automotive). A problem solving mindset, with a deep understanding of engineering principles, and a track record of manufacturing improvements. A real passion for innovation and continuous improvement. Strong leadership skills, motivating and engaging a large, multi-disciplined team. Commercial acumen. The ability to implement and analyse performance metrics, identify issues, and drive decisions. The capability to work cross-functionally, manage challenging situations, and adapt to changing conditions. Experience of cleanroom operations is desirable, but not essential.
