The Role The Shift Engineer is responsible for performing a range of maintenance activities to ensure the effective operation of factory equipment and building infrastructure. This includes preventive maintenance, repairs, installation, and commissioning of equipment to minimise downtime and enhance productivity. Key Responsibilities: Maintain factory equipment (mechanical) according to routine maintenance schedules Follow and complete the Jobs log during each shift Ensure the MVP (CMMS) system is updated and maintained Perform equipment repairs efficiently and effectively Liaise with production teams to minimise downtime caused by maintenance tasks Install and commission new equipment as required Prepare die plates and blades for extruders Conduct maintenance of building fabric Aptitudes required for this role: Strong mechanical engineering skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities Strong attention to detail and organisational skills Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively Qualifications and Skills: Experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial setting Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and repair techniques Understanding of maintenance management systems (CMMS/MVP) Experience in equipment installation and commissioning Knowledge of lubrication schedules and preventive maintenance Proficiency in using mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment Strong organisational and documentation skills Relevant engineering qualifications and statutory training At Irca, we believe that diversity is a fundamental value and a source of strength and innovation.
