Senior Social Worker- Children's Locality Team

North East

We are looking for a social worker to join one of our clients' Children's Social Care teams. The team works with children and young people who are children in need, those in need of protection, and those in care / in care proceedings until final orders / care plans are agreed.
About the role:
There is no better time to join the Children’s social care teams, recently rated as 'outstanding'. Our teams do not over-rely on agency staff, meaning when you join, you will be very welcome, covering a specified absence or vacancy in a team that values your experience and practice wisdom.
You will benefit from working in a locality team with strong senior leadership, focused on the safety and wellbeing of children. You will work alongside social work colleagues, family work colleagues, an enhanced practitioner, a social work consultant, and a team manager—small, geographically based teams that collaborate well.
Our embedded practice framework is Signs of Safety, with Liquid Logic as our case recording system. You will have access to various training and resources, regular reflective supervision, and platforms to support your work, including Signs of Safety champions and a SharePoint site. You will have the opportunity to work autonomously and creatively within a team environment.
We aim to build safety into children’s natural networks while being clear on risk. Our agency assignments focus on increasing capacity, sharing wisdom with less experienced colleagues, and developing a nurturing environment supported by our local authority solicitors and close links with early help colleagues and family hubs. We also support NQSWs through our social work academy since 2016, encouraging practice sharing and development.
Children's social care was awarded GOLD as supportive employer of the year in 2023/3 at the National Social Work awards, recognizing our investment in staff care and support, including flexible working, wellbeing portals, staff networks, employee assistance schemes, supervision, and training opportunities. We facilitate CPD for Social Work England registration and support those seeking permanent roles.
We work with a range of countywide services to support children and families, including:
* The full circle team: therapeutic trauma and attachment service linked to CAMHS
* Supporting solutions services: family group conferencing, family time workers, edge of care workers, missing workers, exploitation workers, adolescent safeguarding, rapid response team for complex mental health needs
* Home and family finder teams: identifying families and homes for children in care
* Connected carers and SGO teams: supporting kinship carers
* Pre-birth team
* Care leavers service
* Social work academy and resources for direct work
What you need:
* A degree in Social Work or equivalent
* Registered with Social Care Wales/Social Work England
* Completed relevant post-qualifying training
* Enhanced DBS check
