Wolverhampton City Council has new and exciting opportunities within our Occupational Therapy Service. We’re expanding and looking for experienced, motivated practitioners who want to lead practice, develop others, and make a tangible impact across our community.
Role
Occupational Therapist — Salary £44,075 - £49,282 (Grade 7), Hours 37, Contract type: full time, permanent. Work Style: Field – working in communities across the city.
Based in Wolverhampton, you’ll take the lead on complex functional assessments, specialist aids, adaptations and manual handling interventions, and service improvement initiatives. You’ll work in people’s homes and in our Albert Road clinic, supporting safe, timely outcomes that maximise independence. You’ll collaborate across our integrated pathways—from Independent Living (aids & adaptations) to deliver high‑quality, person‑centred OT, aligned to the principles of the Care Act and best practice in adult social care.
What you’ll do
* Lead complex assessments and clinical decision‑making; prescribe equipment and recommend minor/major adaptations that remove barriers to daily living.
* Provide advanced manual handling expertise; coach colleagues and ensure safe practice across home and clinic settings.
* Support our duty/triage function—liaising with people, prioritising referrals, and guiding proportionate responses.
* Supervise, mentor and develop OTs, OTAs and Trusted Assessors, promoting consistent, strengths‑based practice.
* Work closely with housing, health and the Home Improvement Agency to progress timely equipment and adaptation solutions.
