Job description
Our client, operating within the Defence & Security and Aerospace sectors, is seeking a contract Quality Engineer to join their team in Glenrothes. This Fixed-Term Contract position involves supporting high-profile programmes, requiring effective teamwork to achieve quality standards in a complex engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Performing First Article Inspections (FAIRs), preferably to AS9102 standards
2. Investigating defects to identify and address root causes
3. Maintaining quality records (QPulse)
4. Monitoring and reporting the status of assigned programmes or areas of responsibility
5. Communicating with programme and functional areas to support business goals
6. Conducting Quality Audits (product/product release/process)
7. Supporting external accreditation audits and understanding regulatory requirements (AS9100 & ISO 9001)
8. Ensuring customer contractual requirements and external regulations are adhered to
9. Closing Audit NC's/RCCA/customer complaints and promoting Continual Improvement
Job Requirements:
Essential Candidate Qualities:
10. A self-starting and confident team player who works well with others and inspires them
11. Experience and knowledge of FAIRs to AS9102 Standards, including documentation and reporting
12. Background in Quality Engineering with knowledge of electronics and/or mechanical assemblies, and technical drawings
13. Ability to establish and nurture productive relationships internally and externally
14. Familiarity with Quality Standards AS9100 & ISO9001
15. Ability to work autonomously to deliver agreed goals
16. Capability to anticipate problems, identify innovative solutions, and act on them confidently
17. Unafraid to challenge and question
Desirable Candidate Qualities:
18. Interest in Aerospace and/or Defence
19. Supportive nature with the character to navigate and overcome Programme challenges
20. Degree level qualification or equivalent relevant work experience
