Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and talented multicategory Womenswear Designer with a strong background in Premium UK High Street/Branded fashion, particularly specialising in occasion wear, dresses, denim, knitwear, and wovens. The ideal candidate has an eye for detail, trend forecasting, and a keen understanding of the commercial needs of the contemporary Womenswear market. The project will be creating collections across a few select womenswear brands for the High Street so prioritisation and ability to multitask is key.
Key Responsibilities
* Design & Concept Development: Lead the creation of seasonal collections. Develop original concepts that align with brand identity while ensuring commercial viability.
* Fabric & Material Selection: Source and select fabrics that align with the design vision, ensuring quality, practicality, and cost-effectiveness. Work with fabric suppliers to explore new materials and finishes.
* Pattern Cutting & Technical Design: Work closely with pattern cutters and factories to ensure designs translate well from concept to final product.
* Fit Sessions & Sampling: Participate in fit sessions, to ensure the fit and silhouette are on-brand and perfect for the target market.
* Collection Presentation: Prepare and present your collections to senior management, including mood boards, design sketches, fabric boards and collection decks. Articulate the design rationale and how it will appeal to the target market. Ability to use AI technology for presentations is a plus.
* Maintain Brand Consistency: Ensure that all designs are in line with the brand's vision, aesthetic, and market positioning.
Key Requirements
* Experience: Proven experience designing womenswear for UK Premium brands. Experience working on commercially successful collections is essential.
* Design Skills: Strong ability to sketch and communicate design ideas. Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and CAD is required. AI skills are a strong bonus.
* Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric types, and the production process. Experience in pattern cutting is a plus.
* Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate ideas clearly to both design and production teams.
