Role: EC&I Engineer Location: Bolton Duration: 6 months (Outside IR35) Rate: Negotiable, dpending on experience Must have or be eligible for Security Clearance We're supporting a major engineering client with an urgent requirement for an experienced Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join their project delivery team in Bolton. This is a hands-on, technically involved role supporting critical infrastructure work within a highly regulated industry. You’ll be contributing to the design, specification, and commissioning of EC&I systems on a live project – a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys end-to-end engineering involvement and problem-solving under pressure. Key Responsibilities: * Design and develop EC&I systems including power distribution, control panels, instrumentation loops, and PLC logic. * Produce and review technical documentation: wiring diagrams, I/O schedules, control philosophies, and system architecture. * Support commissioning, testing, and fault diagnosis on-site as required. * Ensure all work meets industry regulations and safety standards. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams including process, mechanical, and project engineers. Ideal Candidate: * Proven experience in EC&I engineering within nuclear, defence, or other high-integrity sectors. * Competent with PLC/SCADA systems, field instrumentation, and electrical design. * Comfortable interpreting and producing technical drawings and documentation. * Knowledge of, and experience using Autodesk Inventor * Familiar with BS/IEC standards and functional safety (desirable). * Must hold or be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.
